Just reading Wally Kahn’s ‘A Glider Pilot Bold’ and it’s made me realise just how little some things change. He mentions the Minister of Aviation not really understanding the people and policies he was supposed to represent back in 1947, the modern government is no better. Which ministry people get put in charge of seems to bear no relationship to their everyday employment. One get’s the impression the PM thinks ‘We’ll put him in charge of aviation’ forgetting that he’s a teacher and the goes and puts a farmer in charge of education.
