My General flight will be tomorrow afternoon from 3pm local. Slightly worried about it as the examiner has 30,000 hrs of flying and teaching student pilots. I have been trained well and it is the one thing that i have been looking forward to since i started, the ability to fly an aeroplane. I am 24hrs away from my fate.
Until i can get back to writing about how it goes tomorrow, here are a few bits of news stories to do with my pilot training.

A DISABLED man has moved a big step closer to fulfilling his dream of becoming a pilot after completing his first solo flight – thanks in part to the team at a north Hampshire-based charity.
Polio victim Gautam Lewis, 30, is only able to walk with the aid of crutches, but has been training for the past six months to gain his private pilot’s licence. Please follow this link to read the rest of the story
Here is the footage from ITV Anglia news piece on pilot training for people with Disabilities from Cranfield Flight Training. To launch the video please click on the below address

my head in the clouds, but my feet are on the ground. I hope to report a positive outcome from my flight test…..

Tips I have been given by an examiner for the flight test are:
1. relax, fly the aeroplane and enjoy the flight.
2. remember the examiner wants you to pass
3. relax
4. don’t say ‘sh!t’ or any other expletive. The examiner is sitting looking out the window enjoying the view, as soon as you swear he wakes up and is wondering what you have done wrong! 🙂
5. relax
Hope it goes well for you.

Good luck Gautim.
Try not to put your examiner on a pedestal, sometimes they are not all great pilots, even by their own admission, and remember they have all been where you are once.
Another thing is that you don’t have to fly your best to pass the test, just be consistant and be safe, if you do something wrong put it behind you and carry on.
Good luck
