Roy Brett thought he was going on one of his last flights, actually it was his last. The seventy two year old pilot was flying his Fleet Canuck in bad weather in British Columbia when he crashed and was not located for another thirty seven years.

A grim reminder that there is still a lot of remote land up here in the Pacific Northwest.
Last year in north central Washington, they found a Bellanca that had disappeared in the mid-1980s.
And it took six months, and the snow to melt, to find a L-39 that disappeared between Seattle and Boise. They found it not far from the Interstate in the central Washington Cascade mountains. So much for ELTs…
Back in the early 70s near Lookout Pass, Idaho, they found a Ryan that vanished at Christmas of 1927 or 8.
The pilot was still in it along with wrapped Christmas presents.
