‘Red 10’ has taken the trouble to write to ‘flyontrack’ before the ‘flying season’ starts, really to emphasise the importance of letting the Reds get on with their stuff without having to call off displays because of light aircraft breaking the RAT(s) that protect them. Remember there are a lot of money paying people who were disappointed at 3 displays last year, and GA needs friends, not enemies.
He explains how it all works from his and the Reds point of view both in preparation and on the day. Worth a ‘read’ on flyontrack – just look for the ‘red arrow’ in the hot news:
http://www.flyontrack.co.uk
And of couse – remember the number – 0500 354802 – all the restrictions are on that freephone number as well as normal NOTAMs on the day.
ALSO: a ‘heads-up on future temporary restrictions is on flyontrack too, just under the Red Arrows bit in that hot-news section – look for the “pair of eyes” – but remember this is just a ‘known-about’ list, one or two will change without reflecting there, and the only real source is the NOTAM or 0500 on the day.
Just a ‘stirring’ thought:-
there were rumours of someone wanting to get rid of the ‘Reds’ for costs reasons – well if thoughtless GA pilots who can’t be bothered to even phone a freephone number are not going to allow them to display, perhaps the accountants will win!
