The media is currently pre-occupied with the Government’s published annual inflation figures, which suggest a figure a little bit less than 3%.
Most GA pilots would dream of such a modest rise. From my own experience of owning a quarter of a very light 60 year old two-seater, based in Berkshire, the fixed costs go as follows. Engineering not included, as it varies year on year.
Club Membership was £240 This year £300….25% increase
Medical was £100 This year £120….20%
I hour’s fuel was £18 This year £20….11.11 %
Hangarage was £864 This year £1032….16.3% (£4128 total)
Insurance was £240 This year £300….15% (£1200 total)
Better start saving now for our mandatory mode S transponder……You have only to mention either SAFETY or SECURITY and any state-sanctioned mugging is pushed through.
