Does anyone know much about the new extensions? Looking on here http://www.1and1.co.uk/domaincheck it looks like there are a lot of new ones out there and I’m wondering if it makes much difference which one you choose. For example, is it better to go for your first choice of name with a lesser known extension or change the spelling, add hyphens/numbers etc and stick with .com. Does it make any difference at all?

Unless your site is in some way commertcial it really doesn’t matter what extension you use.
I’d avoid any ending in .xxx though.
