There follows a true account of a conversation overheard today at an airfield between the owner/pilot of a C152 and a rather more experienced pilot. The conversation was regarding the fuel consumption of the C152 in question.
C152 owner: I flew it for 4 hours and only put 66 litres of fuel in, and it has 100 litre tanks.
Other pilot: 100 litre tanks, are you sure?
C152 owner: Yes is says 100LL on the filler.
Although it is funny, it could have been tragic. This aircraft owner really believed that 100LL meant 100l capacity, and obviously hadn’t read the POH for his own aircraft. It is amazing that he hadn’t ended up in a field through fuel exhaustion. And yes, he was put straight about his mistake.

Napoleon, Squealer, Old Major and the others on the farm send their regards.

Well that told you DBW, you naughty boy.
As an aside BR, other members on other fora here do exactly what you have highlighted above yet they are allowed to get away with it.
It’s been raised before, but then I guess if you’re not ‘in’ then you’re ‘out’…..Keep smiling…
😀
Good point, all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
I would tell you where that quote comes from but I’m into cloak and dagger stuff…….

Try and keep to the topic rather than the cloak and dagger stuff
Blue 🙂

It will be worth the wait, many think a book could be written about the antics of Mr P but it may be used against him in court! Some of the funniest things I’ve seen have involved him.

I did actually get an amusing criptic response from DP and nearly posted it. However, it was a private message to me and I didn’t think it fit for human consumption. Suffice to say that he promises to tell me all about it when next he sees me. As things stand, I have no plans to see him before next May, so it may be long wait. Sorry.

While you are at it ask him about his modelling career for a ‘happy’ artist who was producing T-shirts for a now defunct Norwich shop and also his short field Yak landing at Swanton……

The mind boggles.

bet he doesn’t tell you about his part with the video camera and dissapearing headset!
By: Chipmunk Carol - 12th October 2006 at 10:45
Ask him about the Adolf £200 bet, go on I dare you!
Done – by sms. I’ll let you know what happens.
By: DBW - 12th October 2006 at 10:38
And I always thought he was such a quiet, decent and humble chap. 🙂
😀 😀 😀 😀 I hate to think what he’s mentoring in, bet it’s not flying!

I confess my 77001 story was pure plagiarism of the 710 cap story.
I’m looking forward to hearing more stories of derring-do from you, DB, as well as from DP.

Dave B: Is this the same DP with whom I am aquainted?
On another note, the label by the fuel cap actually says “77001” and is the BS reference … isn’t it?
As my learned formation friend above says — it is indeed the very same Mr P with whom you are acquainted… I could tell many a story about his derring-do’s over the years as he could quite well tell about me, suffice to say I will leave it at that for the time being!!
Interesting – your deduction of the 77001 cap, I take it you have read the (true) story of the Lady that went to the garage asking for a replacement 710 cap, the confused mechanic asked her to draw what she was trying to describe — once she had completed her diagram the mechanic turned it upside down and all became clear………..

From my recollection the 150 has a capacity of 88 litres with 85 useable,

Yes

From my recollection the 150 has a capacity of 88 litres with 85 useable, I know this as I got reprimanded, whilst on PPL training, because I uplifted 85 litres of fuel after landing once, which meant that I probably didn’t need to pull mixture to lean when I shut down……. 😮
