Tobago GT?

I was left unsupervised with my 3 year old son today, so I took him to Conington Flying Club for lunch 😀 . Whilst there 2 Tobago GTs departed, they looked pretty smart/sleek/modern for a 4 seat tourer, how do they compare with the ubiquitous Cessna/Piper Spam cans?

I wonder what it was doing at Conington then? There was also a 2 tone green and Gold one there that took off just before it, seems strange to have 2 visiting on the same day

Ah. that is the TB200 at Enstone. I almost flew that this year. I was flying its TB-10 stablemate VMJM earlier this year at Enstone. “Trinny” flight-tested HEVN for FLYER a few years back.

Thanks BR, Nice, informative Site, nice aircraft as well.
Finally got around to uploading my photos and found this one from the day, the same one as the door incident, and I have just noticed his Registration….

Yes treat them the doors with care!

If a club near you has one, check out on it and do a few hours. You won’t be disappointed.

Minus points: Gas struts on gull wings can fail (with hilarious consequences).

Overall far nicer than a standard PA28 or C172. A little pocket rocket by comparison.

Thanks BR, speaking of the doors, one of the chaps had obviously taken a new ‘Lady Friend’ for a flight, and after she had helped him push it on the grass, he went back to his side, picked up his flight bag, and rather cooly attempted to slam the door shut as he jumped from the wing, all in one movement…..unfortunately his cool image was spoiled as he slipped on the door, stumbled off the wing and dropped his bag…the Gas strut seemed to be in rude health as the door sprung back immediately…..more practice methinks 😀

Plus points: handling they are excellent and great to wang about the sky or pretend you are an airliner. Great visibility, quite comfy and everything wraps around the pilot.

Minus points: wing is a bit slabby so aircraft glide ratio isn’t great. Gas struts on gull wings can fail (with hilarious consequences). That wing again doesn’t develop help as much forward speed as you might expect for the power. Switchgear for some is odd (but I love the idiosyncrasy)
