And exactly how much are members of the House of Lords/Parliament worth?

I have a Stepson with a Mental disability and I feel this clown should be sacked for insulting those with mental or physical problems
As a BTW I notice that twice in the last week Cameron has brought up the subject of his dead son to help his cause or divert trouble.

As Moggie C says, step back and look at the facts. This is an extremely cheap politically orientated one-up-man-ship which should be stopped in its tracks.
By the way, my Great Grand Daughter who has just turned 4 will never (bar a magic turn of fate) communicate with this world. Her parents, grandparents and us would wish for no more than a caring society. Give us back the respite homes and the minimum wage can go and tickle.

Yes charlie but that is all politicians and I feel that it is time they all realised that their actions on so called care in the community and constant cuts will come back and bite them in the a rse. How many times have you seem some one on television looking repentant saying “lessons have been learned” when somebody has been killed or killed themselves.
The plain truth is it is cheaper to let things like that happen than find the resources to stop it.

Paul – I fully sympathise with your feelings informed as they are by your close personal involvement with mental health problems. There are twin aspects to the case though. The crass insensitivity of an off the cuff remark made at a private fringe meeting. And the politically cynical exploitation of the remark by Labour many days after it was made.

#5 My middle stepson has schizophrenia. He is now 50 and lived with us for 4 years from 1996-2000 it was hell for us with threats because of the voices. Not only that to get any treatment for him was a fight we carry on to this day. He lives in sheltered accommodation now but cuts have left him with us and his GP(ha) as his only support. He got a job because the support workers thought it was good for him in a supermarket, That lasted until day two because he took a hammer in to smash the managers head in.He has lost flats due to trashing them and has been sectioned under the mental health act. I could go on and on. So If my wife and I do not stand up for him and keep pushing Social Services and other agencies I think he would be dead by now or some one else would.
Yes I do take offence, he is vulnerable and incapable of standing up for himself. The Mental Health system in this country is deplorable and people who are incapable of living unsupported are left to their own devices and often on the streets.
1 in 4 will get some form of metal problem in a year
This list is from Mind.
Depression 2.6 in 100 people
Anxiety 4.7 in 100 people
Mixed anxiety and depression 9.7 in 100 people
Phobias 2.6 in 100 people
OCD 1.3 in 100 people
Panic disorder 1.2 in 100 people
Post traumatic stress disorder 3.0 in 100 people
Eating disorders 1.6 in 100 people
Freuds remark was unhelpful and unkind in the extreme and I would like to see him and anyone else from whatever party sacked as they are clearly not in touch with the real world.

The cynic in me ponders on the reasons Labour waited two weeks to make the story available to the media………..

People with mental health issues have a problem with people taking offense on their behalf. They are the ones who create a stigma.
This is nothing but another cheap shot for some ill perceived political gain.

Yup, I would strip him of everything he owns give him £320 and tell him to come back in a month and let us know how he got on…… Absolute muppet and should go, especially considering the position he holds….
I have said before we should have NO career politicians, they should have to serve at least 10 years in a full time job before ever being selected to be an MP, and it’s the local parties that are at fault for putting them forward to stand as an MP.
