Dolly Parton

What an amazing show at Glastonbury. 100,000 people watching her perform many singing along with her. Shows that people well under half her age(68) appreciate her. I wish I could have been there just for that.
Am I a fan? well I have about 1,200 tracks of hers and counting.

Well a Dollyism I like among many about age that perhaps some of us oldies might bear in mind

“I would rather wear out than rust out.”

And she wasn’t miming!

Dolly Parton: ‘I was not miming at Glastonbury’
‘My boobs are fake, my hair’s fake but what’s real is my voice and my heart,’ she tells the Sun after accusations from viewers

Took my missus to see her at Cardiff arena a couple of years ago. It is a fairly big venue and the place was packed with people of all ages, kids to pensioners. We were next to a girl that travelled from Holland just for the show. Dolly put on a fantastic show which I really enjoyed even though I’m not a die hard fan like my wife. I tried to get tickets for this years tour but all venues sold out almost instantly. My sister in law and her family were at Glastonbury specifically to see her so I imagine a great number of Sunday’s crowd were as well.

There are only 2 things I like about her, and her voice just aint one of them..:D…Country and Western, all sound the same, it’s all down to the “Wow, wow, wow” factor.
Give me any one of the Rat Pack, any day.
Jim.

Indeed as her style of music has a large following and the tickets would have been bought by her fans elsewhere, whereas Glastonbury probably comprised large numbers who had never heard her, were no fans of country music, but were happy to enter into the spirit of the occasion and help to justify the expense.

The same could apply to Tony Bennets performance a few years – and he’s a lot older than Dolly. Perhaps when you’ve shelled out the ticket price there you’ll sing along to anything. Would the same people pay to see them at the Royal Albert Hall or Wembley Arena for example?

Anyway glad you enjoyed it Paul you li’l ole country boy, you!!;)
