Why is something on this site trying to get me to download malware?

I keep getting a site pop up, only when I’m on this site, telling me that Flash Player is out of date & inviting me to download a new version. Twice it’s tried to download on its own, but Chrome reckons it’s malware & has blocked it.

My Flashplayer is completely up to date, BTW.

Another couple of unwanted ‘ads’ appearing are sponsored by ‘360 Grad Banner’ and ‘ads.pubmatic’. These appear to open when an e-mail is accessed from a regular e-mailer and I am having some difficulty in getting them deleted and abolished.

It’s stopped now. Was very brief. I think it was probably a rogue advert, as you said.

Never had that happen on this forum before, but there’s another one, rather more shipping oriented, which I’ve noticed has had dodgy ads on a few occasions.

Nice colour for an advert 😀

Obviously distracted by the colour of the anti-virus software warning that locked the site – now amended! 😮

I wonder if it’s a flash player problem that is affecting me. Every time I use the forum on my phone (Firefox for Android 4.4.2) it crashes the browser. I know Flash support for Android is pretty much non-existent so I wodnder if it’s connected. Oddly enough on the tablet (Galaxy Tab 10.1) it’s fine. They have different Android versions though.

I sent some screen-dumps from my anti-virus software via a Mod to the Webmaster – a rouge advert was reported to be the issue.

Nice colour for an advert 😀

I’ve had the same thing a few times lately. I had deleted Flash Player, due to a couple of other minor problems on my PC.
It seems quite a number of applications need it.
Someone sent me one of those “poxy” Jaquie Lawson eCards, and that wouldn’t run without Flash Player.
I have now downloaded the latest version.

Something similar was happening a few weeks ago (covered in another thread around here) – I sent some screen-dumps from my anti-virus software via a Mod to the Webmaster – a rogue advert was reported to be the issue.

Bizarrely since my PC took a genuine Flash update the problem hasn’t happened again!!

I’ve seen the update request but not on this Forum. Think I tried it once and nothing completed.
