I’m working on a BBC TV project, which is an archive based series. We’re currently looking to make a documentary about Flying and Film..
So we’re looking for any footage out there from the early days of flying, probably up until the thirties.
We’re particularly keen on amateur footage, flying displays, acrobatics etc from the early days of flying.. .
Maybe you know a good source of such material?
Maybe you know of a relevant film that’s out there which we haven’t heard of??
Maybe someone in your family was an enthusiastic early filmer of planes??
If so, please get in touch – All suggestions welcome..
Thanks, Ben

Acrobatics are what people do, aerobatics are what aircraft or aeroplanes (not “planes”) do.
Pedantic mode off, but the BBC should know better!

Archive Film
Unfortunately I don’t know if it is still in existence, but back in the late 1960’s Rex Walwin, pre-war flying instructor with the Cotswold Aero Club showed us some 9mm film, including air-to-air of pre-war club flying. I don’t live in the area now and Rex has long since died, but Phil Matthews, CFI of the Cotswold Aero Club at Gloucestershire Airport may have some contact with any descendants.
