Silver Fox, Yes I agree. re the 77 flack gun, Moggs was right re the 88. however, I had a feeling the 77 was used as an Anti Aircraft weapon, but I know they were used in WW1. There were 6 motorised 77s, and 12 horse drawn 77s, not a great deal, but this was at the start of the war, the 6 motorised ones were used to help German troops in their drive forwards, and the 12 horse drawn ones used to defend key bridges along the Rhine, and the baloon hangers.

As regards your stating about transportation, the ones I feel soorry for were the ones who crewed the “Floating” Shermans, with the skirt, supposidly to keep them bouyant. that were dropped too short of the beaches on “D” day, and who never made it to the beaches.How did we end up here, when the Post was about a Radial aircraft engine?.;)
