Fourth in an occasional series of stories displaying the mind numbing silliness that happens in other parts of the world that might fill in the ‘…and finally…’ bit at the end of a slow, boring edition of the news, when there is seemingly nothing else to report but a was-she-sacked-or-did-she-walk report.
Check Out this Gold Porsche 911 Made out of Cardboard
We have seen many people build car replicas for themselves of models which they can’t afford. Many Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and even Veyrons have been replicated by people.
Now, 48 year old Johannes Langeder found a quite interesting way to own a brand new Porsche. The Austrian spent six months and more than 1,000 hours to build a gold Porsche GT3 RS. But, its not a normal Porsche made out of metal. Johannes has made use of cardboard for construction of the car.

The eco-friendly car is powered by a pedal mechanism and weights just 99.6 kilograms (219 pounds). Johannes spent a good €13,000 ($18,000) to build the Porsche. It can attain a max speed of 10 mph (16 km/h) if you push the pedals really hard.
“It has 24 gears which is pretty impressive, and at the end of the day I am finally driving around in a Porsche,” Johannes says. “It is treated like a bicycle by the law and I wanted to show that a car needed no fuel. The most impressive feature is its extreme slowness – everyone on the street is faster than you.”
Johannes built the Porsche back in 2010 and enjoys pedalling the car regularly these days on the streets of Hamburg, Germany.

Wont need to do that–first down pour and it will reduce to a mulch anyway :)–but the badge will be ok.
Ah, so it is near fire proof in the rain? Good selling point…

My point being a cardboard thing with a porsche badge does not make it a porsche anymore than someone wearing a VW badge makes them a VW owner
By: snafu - 9th April 2014 at 21:49
Ah, but so did Volkswagen’s. Your point?
By: trumper - 9th April 2014 at 20:01
But it has a Porsch badge on the front.
Beastie Boys fans used to have stolen VW badges as well 🙂
