VAC Valentine Rally

Just a quick reminder folks that this event is at BICESTER not Turweston.
Flying in is limited to members only I’m afraid.

On a better note look out for the completely redesigned VAC website to be published about mid month :D.
New look.
New format.
New style.

Welcome Mark A
I should think it was a case that any flying visitor was better than none at all!!!! 😀

I’d just also like to state that the kids and I visit TW yesterday and that honour was satisfied… Sticky bun consumption was resumed!!!! Well worth the visit just for the sticky buns… :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

That’s the Bidford Chippy.

😀

That must have been me then Neil.

Was there a prize for the furthest travelled?

p.s I didn’t realise about the ‘members only’ restriction, just phoned Windrushers for PPR. I don’t think I disrupted the gliding.

p.p.s. Fancy making me register just so I could reply. 😉

Why was that? Not interested in acquiring new members?

It was a requirement of the airfield operators – especially as they are an active gliding club.
Normally the Snowball, Valentine, Daffodil Vintage & Classic Day and All-Hallows events are open to all (with PPR) but due to on going Planning Permission problems with AVDC and Turweston (our normal base) we have had to de-camp for these events and it’s not as easy as you think to find an airfield that will accept a club fly-in where landing fees etc can be negotiated.
We are always on the look out for new members… Just sometimes our hands are tied with these things….
I hope that helps.

I’ll send it on to the chairman 🙂

Hope to have it in place this weekend.

Cheers chaps.
The Logo is due to be replaced with a higher quality image as soon as I get my hands on it. (not internet connected at home so it has to received via post and the whole site uploaded elsewhere)
The picture information as provided by BR will be addressed and remedied if possible.

I think a lot of it is designed for vintage pilots 🙂

I think I had reached the conclusion that the font size was chosen for the benefit of Vintage Pilots. 😀

BTW, using pictures instead of text is a bit heavy on the old bandwidth, e.g. the “whats new” news section.

I think I must have used the search term “vintage aero club” then having not got any results put in the same plus “VAC”. A few down is the old vac.flyer site. I know better now what “VAC” stands for! 😮

The new site comes up first for me too. Much prettier it is too… all except for that cheap looking winged-V that looks as though it was produced at much too low a resolution by somebody using Microsoft Paint.

That’s the Bidford Chippy.

Could you redirect visitors to http://www.vac.flyer.co.uk/, which has a higher Google ranking, to the new site please? I was only able to tell what the new address is AW by looking at your pfofile. Hardly an ideal search engine 😀

I’ll give it a try and see what I can get….

Just did a google search here… On the world wide web search the “new” site came up first and when I trued the UK button…

I wonder if it is a configuration thing?
As for redirecting I will have to have a word with someone in the club as I was not responsible for the Flyer hosted one…

Call that three…..while you were tucking into the sticky buns at Turweston (and no doubt trying to peek through the hangar doors at the Seafire), we hosted one visitor at least.

Three cheers for Chipmunk ‘MG, which battled through the scud from Warwickshire way! (Follow the headlights down the M40 and turn left I guess!)

🙂

Three cheers indeed!!!!

Yes once again Mother Nature conspired against us…
It was called off around lunchtime again and some of us decamped to TW for a cuppa and sticky bun only to find out – no sticky buns!!!!!!!!! – plenty of other nourishment but not a bun in sight…

Thanks to those members who drove in for the day. At lest there was a presence. 4 Bicester based events and only two visitors to show for it….

Sometimes we are lucky at the start of the year. Sometimes we’re not…

That’s a real shame. I particularly enjoyed the VAC outing to Turweston a year or three ago.

Unusually for the UK, this weekend’s weather was predictable from the very beginning of last week, so no amount of finger-crossing was likely to protect you.
