Want a change of scenery?.

As I was browsing through the pages of property for sale or rent,on Flea Bay, I found quite a lot of property for sale in………………………..BULGARIA. and cheap at that!!
Now if that don’t speak volumes, I don’t know what does.

True, if 1 in 10 killed on the roads is drunk that means it is safer to drive pizzed, not sober.

We never will know the true figures, they will not be released even if they are known.

Very true Gary, meanwhile…………………..back to Statistics, which can be highly manipulated, to read what THEY want you to believe.

Hospitals are also there to help you people also die in supermarket car parks

Funny you don’t see many mortuaries in Tesco Car parks, but every hospital has one, that’s gotta tell you something.

Turkey should be cheap to live in house wise, most of those are in Germany.

The Bulgarians have been “Filtering” here for quite a few years. Ont Telly 2 days ago, they interviewed the owner of a Bus Company in Bulgaria, he has for some considerable time, been Coaching 3 bus loads of Bulgarians to the U.K. He has now had to UP the 3 bus loads to 9, a week to cope with the demand. He is just one Coach Company owner, I can’t wait for those beloved STATS to come out to inform us of just how many have entered the U.K. since the doors were opened.
I have a Brother In Law,a fully fledged Bulgarian, BTW, who ownes his own garage, and works mainly as a Porche repairer, and a very clever chap he is indeed. If they all had similar skills, they are welcome, if not, then don’t bother, as we have enough spongers here already.

I am sure that’s partially true and it will be interesting to see how many are here in six months time. We should balance the Daily Heil view of matters against the reality of the thousands of immigrants who have enhanced the nation over the years, and I include those who have enhanced my own life.
Thinking about the language aspect I wonder how many of the three quartets of a million plus Brits in Spain speak the language………

what I have seen on the news seems to indicate that many of the (relatively few so far) immigrants are actually pretty well qualified, fluent English speakers and obviously intend to make a serious living here.

This is a point that seems to get overlooked during immigration debates. Bulgarians study English at School, and then man I have had the pleasure of knowing speak English to a very high standard. It is a similar situation with many countries, which is why the UK is more appealing to many migrants.

Indeed. But the wages for the dull mundane jobs are likely to be pretty low and they will still have to survive in our, high cost environment. Good luck to them. I would guess their life here won’t be a picnic if they are sending substantial proportions of their income home.

The issue isn’t a great concern to me, but what I have seen on the news seems to indicate that many of the (relatively few so far) immigrants are actually pretty well qualified, fluent English speakers and obviously intend to make a serious living here.

the average monthly take-home in Bulgaria is about $450 compared to UK at $2500

So cheap Bulgaria is only cheap for us, not them. Would explain why they might want to come here and do the dull and mundane jobs that Brits wont for more money than they could get at home doing the difficult stuff.

The Bulgarians wages tend to be very low, yet many of their expenses (petrol especially) are on a par with our own. Many leave Bulgaria because corruption and crime are rife.

But, with a lot of foreign investment currently taking place, many of my Bulgarian friends are finding fresh opportunities, especially in property management.

I can work from anywhere there is broadband. My UK pension would still be payable
Moggy

You need to balance that with their everyday costs, taxes.
If things were reasonable in their country they wouldn’t want to come here,i don’t see a mass exodus from here to there.
If you can work from home [assuming you did move to Romania,Bulgaria etc] via the internet then the odds are you will still be charging UK prices to your clients but able to have a very high standard of living in another country.
It is quite a local thing in this country.I have friends that do the same job as myself that moved to Wales ,got a really nice house for a fraction of the cost here but now can’t afford to buy anything here in East Anglia to move back.

Having taken a look, and found many properties at around £40,000 and less I would have said they are within reach of a large number of man-in-the-streets, but the commute would be lengthy and expensive.

Um, I was talking about the local average man in the street, not British migrants. What is the average wage in Bulgaria anyway?

Ahh, Now some are begining to get the picture. I stated on G.D. some time ago,On a Monday,I draw my State Pension, and there is always several E.U. folks there, sending money back “Home” even on the minimum wage, they can still live here, and send money back home, where I bet their own minimum wage is lower than ours, (If they have such a thing), so they CAN afford their own house in their Country of origin. Also, no doubt being on the minimum wage, they are also entitled to Allowances, ie, child Allowance, back home, but which seemingly no one ever checks to see whether they have any kids back home to support. They have found out, that this is indeed, the Land of Milk and Honey, and that the streets of Peckham, are indeed, paved with Gold, or so Dell Boy, says.

Nothing to do with their cost still being out of reach to the average man in the street, as in Britain, then?

Linc – the saying “People die in hospitals” came from the consultant who wouldn’t allow me to languish in the five-star luxury of the Bury St Edmunds Nuffield (Private room, french windows onto a garden, wine of choice at mealtimes) any longer than three days or so. Pity, the pain apart, it was brilliant.

Steer clear of them I say.
