So we are not doing enough for Syria

So what did the Syrians ever do for us? (apologies to Monty Pythons Life of Brian.)

Do you actually know how many Syrian refugees there are here? None. Because we have slammed the door on them.

I think we could house quite a few Gary, the only problem is that the Benefit system would surly be close to meltdown, if we let all and sundry in.There must be a finite amount we can give away.

No i am sorry. Our beautiful country is being turned intro a concrete jungle-roads are clogged, the health service and other infrastructure are at breaking point– we shouldn’t be taking more in.When do you say stop?

“So we are not doing enough for Syria”

In what way? Arms, aid. Telling Bashar al-Assad that he isn’t a decent chap?

Charlie, Answer the basic question then,

What should they do?

We cannot house everyone,so what should they do.

I hope Chas don’t read that, he will have a heart attack.
Shame he has left this discussion, as I would have liked to have asked him if HE would be willing to fight for his,(THIS) Country.

No doubt – what? – dish out arms to hundreds of thousands of woman and children, many of whose husbands, brothers and fathers have already been killed. Come on!!:stupid:I don’t think some people have the remotest idea what Syria has been like for the last year. If they did I doubt they would say what they have.

It’s a violent war zone.

If it were England being torn apart by civil war, would you honestly flee? What would that achieve, other than protecting yourself?

Pick a side, and fight for what you believe in. If these refugees had done this, it could well have turned the tide of this war one way or the other.

I abhor violence, but if these Syrians aren’t willing to fight for their future, and their children’s futures, they deserve an unstable country.

Well, WHY didn’t you say you had been over there and witnessed it all?.:stupid:….Remember the Hitler Youth movement, very young kids were given weapons to fight for their “Motherland”.And Russia had women snipers during the War, who also may have had children, didn’t stop them though, did it?.

If you want something bad enough, you must be willing to help yourself attain it.not rely on others.

Guess your outnumbered Chas. Give them arms, and let them fight for their Freedom, like so many have in the past. 1588 for example.

So exactly how were 2 million people displaced by civil war supposed to “help themselves”? What a bizarre notion…

Fight.

Violence should always be the last resort, but running away solves nothing.

Well you haven’t explained how they can help themselves. And most of the 2 million are not inconveniencing our lives but those in Turkey and Jordan.

As i said 2 million is a big number –doing nothing is really not an option for them,do something ,anything. March into their city, protest,–do something ,anything .They are always going to be oppressed victims if they don’t do SOMETHING.
Regarding Turkey and Jordan, how long will it be before we and the whole world are asked to help them out helping out the Syrians.

You march together arm in arm and change things ,2 million will make a huge sight and noise, they can’t keep doing NOTHING something has to give at some point. How long ,how many people do you let it go on for?where does it end?.

IMHO, stuff Syria. About time this country started looking after it’s own people instead of sending aid to counties who don’t get off their backsides to help themselves…..
