Gurkha on Hunger Strike in London.

Does anyone know much about this story..?

http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2013-11-18/schoolboy-tries-to-save-gurkhas-life/

It seems to me that it’s being kept out of the mainstream media for some reason.
Perhaps it’s the media reptiles trying to protect their fellow public school educated bum-chums in pretend to be the Government these days.
If the t*ssers in Downing Street thing this mob will give up, then they really don’t understand the problem.

As ever, my contempt for politicians knows no bounds. Just when I thought it couldn’t get lower, they find a way of making it so.

Andy.

I suppose it is often the case that someone without expertise but full of good intentions fails to see or understand the long term implications of what they are trying to achieve. As the Gurkha association said it would have been so much better to have used the resources to improve their lives among their own people instead of bringing them here to a miserable existence.

I hope the current campaign ends well and the findings of the enquiry are fair and reasonable, because these fine men deserve no less.

I think she is on record as saying how important her father’s example is to her.

It is the second time she has intervened on behalf of the Gurkhas. Her campaign for the rights of retired Gurkhas to live here seems to have had mixed success, with the British Gurkha Welfare Society saying it has caused thousands of old, infirm non-English speaking soldiers coming from Nepal to end up living in very poor conditions. Let’s hope the outcome of this campaign ends more obviously successfully.

I agree with Argonaut, had it no doubt been for the “Interest” shown by a high profile person such as Joanna, this Carp Government would have left him out to dry.I wonder just how much Pension, these Politicians get for their brilliant way they have ruined this once great Country, when they retire.

Well done Joanna Lumley, however it should not have been necessary for her to have to intervene. These men “Bravest of the brave, most generous of the generous, never has a country had such faithful friends as these” such be treated far better than they have been. Hopefully it will now be sorted.

Signed and sent. These men fought for Queen and Country and are then sent off with a pittance, while in the meantime any bod who claims asylum gets the “de-luxe” treatment. I have always admired the Ghurkha’s, These brave men deserve better.

You could be right Andy but I rarely watch either. Channel 4 news possibly, though. In any case it doesn’t detrract from the reasons for the strike, of course. Yup, keep up the barrage, Andy, MOST of them deserve it!!

Well Charlie, it hasn’t been on either ITN or BBC main news has it..?
Yes, I agree it’s been reported at lower levels but the big boys are keeping clear–or so it seems.

A.

PS. And you know I never miss a chance to throw sh*te at our so called masters–they deserve it.

Before we all start lobbing sh***te around it’s fair to say it was reported in the Telegraph a few days ago, where I first read about it, on Sky News, and can be found in the Mirror, BFBS News and was the subject of an Early Day Motion in Parliament two days ago. So hardly being ignored….

Jim.
Sadly you’re correct. It seems to have all become a non-story to our friends the ‘hacks’. i wonder if they realise that most of us only rate them about the same as politicians, and not the hugely important individuals they think they are. After all, they’re only vicariously living the lives of others–the story is the people in it, not the story teller. Although you wouldn’t think that watching the BBC news–or any of the others rubbish either.

Typical shower of sh*te, this Government. If this man was willing to die for this Country, he deserves his pension, others have got theirs, perhaps Miss Lumley may take up his fight.

Mind you Andy, you don’t hear much about OUR soldiers being made redundant, some only a week or two before retiring, losing out on their pensions.
