Having been just about everywhere on our little Island, I have found that the folks of Yorkshire are the most friendly, and obliging, I have ever met in my travels, there may well be the odd exception to the rule, but where isn’t there?.

I like Yorkshire for a holiday I have stayed in York,Harrogate and a charming little place called Burnsall in the Dales went to stay 2 nights B&B and ended up staying 10 days. I got scenery overload in the end and had to come home to get some concrete under my feet as I was starting to twitch!

Great stuff, by gum.I will enjoy looking through that lot. A friend of mine who goes to Copley for meetings now and again tells me you can always tell a Yorkeshireman, but you can’t tell him much!:)

Quite rightly so that you should be chuffed, a wonderfull country.
Contary to some rumours Scots arn’t tight, us Yorkies tried to educate Scots on how to be tight but it didn’t work:eagerness:

Scotland got third best country to visit behind Brazil and Antarctica (not sure that’s a country actually) so I am equally chuffed.

I understand where you are coming from my dear chap, due to the boundry changes in the ’70’s we had North, West and East Ridings extending almost as far as Kendal, see;

Cumberland and Westmorland my dear chap, none of this new fangled Cumbria gibberish.. As a Cumbrian from good old Cumberland :). Up Lindisfarne way is a favourite too, another favourite along the Carlisle Settle line… And of course the lakes.

As a Yorkie, it’s great to see the area receive the recognition it deserves. I wonder how the judges would feel if they saw York on a Saturday afternoon during the summer – full of Hen parties and drunk geordies.
(
I have looked after a pub in York on the infamous ‘Micklegate run’ and lets say there was some interesting moments to say the least! Rough as a bear’s hariss, not just the summer either, the locals are worse than the visitors. But to be fair the rest of the centre is ok.
I must admit I do have other favourate parts of the UK, Cumbria, Northumberland, Malvern hills, Derbyshire, Cheshire (great on a narrow boat), Snowdonia, Scotland, Zummerset, Devon. As a small island we are blessed.

Mrs CH will be delighted having been born and bred there. Although I think she’d probably agree that there are many different Yorkshires , a few of which wouldn’t reach the top 100 let alone the top ten!! The Dales and moorland is beautiful, without doubt and although we can no longer travel there regularly we have spent a great deal of time there over the past 40/50 years.

Unfortunately, there are those who consider this beautiful area as “desolate”, and ripe for housing projects and fracking. 🙁

I can agree with that.We have stayed in Whitby for the last 8 years or so.
