One of the original “Mercury 7” and the only one never to fly in space again, reportedly because of the controversial claim he put his Aurora 7 mission in jeopardy by “over-expenditure” of fuel. Also famous for uttering those immortal words “Godspeed, John Glenn.” RIP.
