Nothing to do with religion just mindless violence. You could not put a fag paper between both faiths. Most of these creatures were not even born when the “troubles” started. I just despair at the whole situation!

Hi All,
Setting aside the religious overtones with the problem could the continued violence /trouble be that those who were involved way back have had all the power taken away and just like nothing better than to appear to be in charge by giving orders on both sides still recruiting with bullsh*t from way back when ?

I wish it were that simple, Tony…..

It’s a bit like little girls, their dollies and prams, it is training them for motherhood and instilling in them that mindset..what you need to do is remove the hate preachers who get at these kids early and turn them into terrorist..

I’d extend that to every religious war which has taken place over the last 1000 years, and which are still taking place to a greater or lesser degree. Although Ireland is as much about territory as it is about religion. There are Catholics who are happy to remain part of the UK and Protestants who are happily Irish citizens.

If these individuals were practising what their respective faiths teach them they wouldn’t be perpetrating violence against others. I just can’t get my head around the mindset that this sort of behavior is somehow O.K.

Like alot of wounds every now and again the will flex and open up but hopefully people will over a period of time prefer the peace to the violence and peace will become the normal.

Sadly there has been simmering dissent since the agreements were signed and most people forgot about it. Despite considerable concessions on the Union side the Republicans were/are still not satisfied and extreme Protestants remain angered at the amount that was conceded. It will take a generation before old scars heal and even then I doubt that there will be a total peace.
