Could the Chichester-Miles Leopard be called the first VLJ (very light jet)? Is Britain going to lose its lead in this market? What has happened to this concept? I believe two, G-BKRL and G-BRNM are with the Bournemouth Aviation Museum and one may be airworthy. Is it the usual case of lack of money for development or is there another problem? :confused:

G-BRNM is displayed inside the museum and is complete and G-BKRL arrived at the museum earlier this year in bits and is stored outside under a tarpaulin.
Inside alongside G-BRNM there are some very nice professional looking models of the aircraft.

I will qualify my statement by saying that the Leopard should be the first of the new line of VLJ’s which predominately use Williams engines.

You have a good point there Kenneth! Especially as the U.S. has just bought 30 used Paris’s from France to refurbish and sell in the U.S. 😉

Shouldn’t that honour be bestowed on the much earlier Morane-Saulnier Paris or SIPA MiniJet?
