I am connected to my wireless with my ipad and have typed in the generic 192.168.1.1 to get the admin panel so I can check the settings of the router. I need to make sure it is secure or else I will not be able to connect up with my works computer using VPN. So I tapped in the IP address above and typed “admin” for username and password and it displayed a screen showing all the router details including username, network ID and passwords. Should it show this or is it only showing this because I am connected with a device that already knows the password ? Confused. Any ideas ?

What you are seeing is the admin screen.
To secure the wireless router / modem turn on WEP, Wireless Equivalent Privacy.
Find this in router or wireless settings. Turn it on and set an Alpha Numeric Password.
Once set and saved the router may reboot. Then all your devices will disconnect from wireless.
You then need to set the password you created into each device you want to connect to wireless.
