A couple quid from a lotto scratch card. Pretty much the same for people I know. Don’t personally know of anyone that has won something considerable from scratch cards or lotto draws.

Think of it this way. If 123456 comes up this weekend everyone will be kicking them selves for not choosing it!….
A win is a win is a win!
All of £370 if it comes up tonight.
As for big wins? I have the car I have always wanted, I have the aircraft I have always wanted (Not counting Warbirds – which I probably wouldn’t spend much of my lottery win on) So all that is really left is to find a house with its own airstrip so I can keep the aircraft at home.
Buying ‘stuff’ at my stage of life is pretty pointless. The rest would be spent on travel and really expensive wines to enjoy.

An interesting question and one which was dramatised many years ago. Like many aspects of life some will gain and benefit from it and others will be destroyed by it.
To be brutally honest the more intelligent the winner the more likely they are to use the winnings beneficially and sensibly.
To pick up one of your points the opportunity to become immersed as a volunteer might be far better than paid work. And of course depending on the winner’s age you need a very big win to give up work permanently.

Would to win the lottery actually be a good thing for people?
In a stroke it means you don’t have to work. It also means no real purpose in life. No need to do anything. No direction. No drive.
Not saying I wouldn’t like the option but wonder if it would be bad in some way.
A lot of millionaires go off the rails. Beverly Hills has a lot of depressed people.

The lottery sparks a strange psychology in people.
An idiot to use 123456? I don’t use those numbers for the same reason but that makes no sense.
What I’m saying is, I don’t want to win 100’000 with 123456 I want several million. Forgetting of course that to win is so unlikely 123456 would still be a nice win if I got it.
Think of it this way. If 123456 comes up this weekend everyone will be kicking them selves for not choosing it! A win is a win after all!
It’s the same with rollovers. People do a rollover because they don’t want to win a meager 3 million? Makes no sense. I would be happy with £1000.
A win is a win is a win!

Item 1. Bail me, my son and brother out of out debts and secure my grandson’s future! After that – no idea – buy a light plane probably and an appartment overlooking the sea at Nice.

O.K., So some of us have had minor wins, the odd Tenner here and there, one or two over a Thousand. BUT, if you were lucky to win, say 5 Mill, what would you spend it on? What’s the thing you have always wanted, but could never afford ?..
Jim.

There are an enormous number of idiots who play 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
It’s just as likely to come up as any other sequence – but when it does, they’ll share the jackpot
Just did some online research. Apparently it is over 10,000 people per draw

About £10. Thought my luck had changed in the week with the £81 mil. News said UK ticket holder had won, and not yet claimed. Gets home to check my email. There is an email from National Lottery, 😀 waa-hey thinks me. Logs in, £9.20 winner.
Hey ho, better than a kick in the teeth.

A tenner at most and that was four numbers I think, i do it online most weeks, a lot easier and you won’t miss a win as they email you.

£240 a couple of years back.
I was playing multiples of 9 so 9, 18, 27, 36, 45 and a sixth number I can’t remember. I got five numbers and a really miserable payout which taught me not to play sequences.
So a single set of random numbers. One ticket per week. I can actually afford a tenner a month so I don’t worry about it. No illusions about the odds and don’t expect ever to win huge. But a steady stream of £5 – £ 10 wins probably cuts that down to a fiver a month, and a lot of that goes to good causes, including aviation-based ones. So why not?

Linc – if I spend £5 a week for 5 weeks and get nothing, which is most likely, I’ll have lost £25 and had nothing in return. I can think of several ways of spending £25 and getting great pleasure from it.:)

£1,986 a couple of years ago with a lucky dip. Nearly did not do it but we had a couple of quid winnings on a scratch card and my wife put it on the weekday draw.
By: trumper - 31st May 2013 at 15:20
We have more wins on scratch cards than on our lines we use every week but even so not usually more than £10
By: hampden98 - 31st May 2013 at 15:02
£8. Just lucky I guess.
BTW you have the same odds with 123456 than any random combination of numbers.
Although your winnings will be less.
