White Waltham temporarily closed (Fri)

Very sad to report that White Waltham has been temporarily closed due to a fatal accident this afternoon. A well-known but as yet unnamed club member was unable to recover from an inverted spin.

Police and AIIB have restricted access to the site. Anyone planning to go to to WW tomorrow might do well to check the situation with West London Aero Club.

Very sad news indeed, this sort of thing always strikes home and lessons can always be learnt, my friends always say to me that I have a great hobby and I’m lucky etc, but I always tell them this, nice as it is to be able to fly but bear in mind aeroplanes kill people, usually as a direct or indirect action of human intervention.

Sorry, you are probably right- Well-known within the club of course does not equate to being a public figure. Private flying, and especially aerobatics, is a pretty small world.
