Raped by her stepfather, who then murdered their child, and now she’s being punished. He hasn’t even been charged yet.
Is this an Islamic practice, or a local, isolated one to the region?

The article does describe The Maldives as Islamic, with elements of British common law and Sharia law within its legal system, make your own mind up as to whether the judgement on the young girl is cultural or religious , my money is on Sharia law.

Sounds more cultural than religious to me.
