Just in that the only prototype CarterCopter crashed on Friday after achieving a breakthrough in it’s test programme. Both pilots O.K. This must be one of the most accident prone prototypes. Info. on:

The CarterCopter crashed on the day that it achieved its (unofficial) barrier break, although the crash was on the subsequent flight. The achievement was that the Cartercopter became the first rotorcraft to pass the mu-1 barrier which is where the ratio of its airpseed (170 mph) exceeded the tip speed of its rotor (107 rpm) to the ratio of mu 1.02. The components for the new prototype are already under design.
