Point taken. A case of fact being stranger than fiction.

As i had a look on that picture, i was wondering about the aircrafts in the background? How have they been tied down? However, the reason for my post is, that i was involved in similar storm and the unbelievable thing in that particular case was, that i had a falcon 2000 sitting on its tail and a piper archer parked next to it was only wet from the rain (the winds were about 175 km/h for about 10 to 15 minutes). In the same storm, we had some aircrafts, with different kinds of tie downs, blown outside the perimeter of the airport without even touching the fence. noteable, the fence is about 2,5 meters high! other aircrafts hade some structural damage due to their tie downs, as the winds were that strong and the ropes could stand the force. And others remained in their positions without anything.
This didn´t happen in florida during hurricane season, it happened in austria. Well maybe it´s an occurance because of a climatic change and if storms like this appear, believe me folks, there is nothing you can do…
In these situations, no law how you have to tie down an aircraft can prevent such damages…

Considering what were used as tie downs(ups?) I’m not surprised they didn’t work. When are people going to realise that something capable of lifting itself(2000 lbs-ish in this case), 2-4 people &the eqivalent of another person in fuel and baggage into the air is not going to be held down by two 5 gallon drums of water or concrete? There should be a law that allows such negligence to be punished.
