Some shots from today, with a dare I say it spectacular bonus I shot at EIN a while back.
Not the best shot I’ve got of this plane. However, the air force and the local spotters club have a gentlemen’s agreement not to post photos of planes parked at the military apron. If we do they may restrict access to parking P4 where this was shot from. So this shot will have to do.
Since about a year ago Eindhoven has become the European joint coordination center for the military transport wings of several countries. I may be wrong, but I do get the impression we get a lot more military transports now.
For the bonus I am going back to september last year. Some may have already seen these shots at the “Year in five” thread at the Photographic forum. These shots where taken at a military training ground for helicopters and army vehicles. The area is open to the public as long as common sense is used. So no kites, no loose dogs, leave after dark etc. The Oirschotse Heide, or GLV-V to use the military designation, is just northwest of the airport. Having foreign helicopters here is extremely rare. Usually it’s just the Netherlands air force and occaisionally the Netherlands police. Going here requires some luck. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 helicopters per day, sometimes you can wait days for one to show up. One guarantee though, during the weekends there are no operations.
Yes, it’s military… live with it.
