ram raiders Duxford

If RAM raiders can get this close to the Museum i wonder what else could be at risk there.

They obviously knew that was where the stock of the rare unsigned copies of the P9374 book were stored….:p:D

I got the impression that the burglars knew precisely where the camera was focussed and made sure they didn’t get into shot. Perhaps the IWM need’s to be a little more flexible.

towing “Sally B”

During the 1970’s a local farmer boy was returning home on his tractor from a night out drinking and drove past the small airport of Jesenwang near Munich.
He saw the parked Hiller12 helicopter and thought he wanted one.
He attached a chain around the skids and dragged it the many miles to his farm.
When the local flyers showed up the next morning at the flying club they noticed the missing helicopter. They and the police just followed the debris until their found what was left of it still attached to the farm boys tractor.
The still drucken farm boy was found in bed and was duly taken away.
The helicopter had flown its “last hour”!

Time to stock up the station armoury methinks….

Wasn’t the visitor centre once the station armoury?

As I work as a volunteer at Duxford I was told the following.

The idiots responsible rammed the entry gates to the car park, which was picked up by securty. By the time they had rammed the front of the visitor centre the security people had phoned the police and where outside the centre on the airfield side at which point the crooks left the way they came , hitting a lorry I understand when they joined the A505.
The whole site is under constant CCTV.

Modify a Tank & put the ATM machine inside it, mount camera close by to catch the next ram raid result…;)

They were 152’s and the likes, you might find it humorous but unlike cars, they do not have to be fully insured, so an owner that has saved for years to own his own aircraft may lose the lot.

I read in one of the CAA blurbs a few years back of some mindless a holes joy riding that drove onto an airfield and rammed the tails of several aircraft tied down, taking the back ends off most of them for fun, my idea of fun would be to line them up and take pot shots at them with a 12 bore until they dropped dead, do you think they would see the fun side in that?
