In the scheme of things relatively minor I would suggest.
Looked at buying a house last year and was told that, because of it position near the church, we may (or may not) be liable for tens-of-thousands of pounds worth of repairs to the church; nobody could even tell us how likely this was. The only option was insurance against the liability (cost £1200 I think?), which the seller agreed to pay…
…we didn’t buy the house, but not for that reason!
The government should abolish such a ridiculous old law! It’s not a minor issue if it happens to you!
Isn’t the Church one of the wealthiest organisations in the country…
…yet every church seems to have a ‘fix the roof’ fund!
