Changing the runway numbers reminds me of Moggy’s comment about whichever country changing the side of the road they drove on — ‘we switched the cars over last year. It worked so well, we’re going to change the lorries this year.’
I believe they asked for volunteers to move the roadsigns so that they could all be moved simultaneously.

I seem to recall it was Napoleon who came up with grads, rather than us, but I could be wrong.
