There is one enormous difference between now and 1982

In ’82 Argentina occupied an undefended Falklands and the British had to re capture.

There is now a strong British military presence so dspite the recent defemce cuts Britain is in a much stringer position to hold it.

It might have been close then but you can’t compare the current threat to the 1982 conflict simply because with the British already in position is is a completly different situation.

We should refuse the Argentine Olympic team entry to the UK :diablo:

(I’m only joking, I’m sure that would create much hostility towards the UK)

Re 15 & 16

There is the little matter of about 300 miles of rather turbulent ocean to cross one way or another, with your invasion forces.

You won’t have the element of surprise. Seaborne forces will have the element of attack submarines being nasty.

Airborne forces will have to deal with the RAF and ground defences before attempting their ‘three pointers’ on Stanley airfield.

Not a ‘cat in hell’s chance’ for the Argies.

Mrs Kirchner, treat yourself to a new handbag.

Errrrrr didnt Mrs T’s administration pull HMS Endurance from the region. And I believe shortly before the conflict they were negotiating to sell two of the “through deck crusiers” to Australia and India ……… and thats for starters.

But if you really want to see how a Conservative government cuts defense try Duncan Sandy’s in 1957……

Of course the current encumbant has’nt done so bad.

NOW LETS FACE THE ACTUAL REALITY !! at the time of the falklands conflict 1982 the royal navy pilots rated the argentines pilots as A NO 1 so given that rating and all we have done is decimate our forces ( if we are honest it was only luck that won the falklands ) if we are realistic we are in a millitary very weak position and if challenged now there is a better than average chance of losing !!

HMS Dauntless could destroy the entire Argentine air force in a morning !!

However female Presidents of dodgy countries should really know when to keep their Gobs shut !!( you could upset the Spanish over oil )

Errrrrrrr, Ever taken your wife on, when she has PMT?, God forbid Madam Presidents so called enemies, ie us, if she makes a decision to attack at that time of month:diablo:even though she knows she wouldnt stand a chance.

Can’t wait to see their swimming team video….

What it needs is for a spoof video in reply – maybe have a Zylberberg-like figure being chased off the islands, into the sea, by pitchfork wielding locals.

Or maybe him ending his run in a minefield….. KaBoom!!!

HMS Dauntless could destroy the entire Argentine air force in a morning !!

What ever nuclear sub we have lurking down there could destroy the entire Argentine navy in a morning !!

Said sub has probably enough nukes on board to destroy Argentina in a morning !!

Yes I know this is a very silly idea to go with a very silly advert !!

However female Presidents of dodgy countries should really know when to keep their Gobs shut !!( you could upset the Spanish over oil )

Ironic isn’t it, she makes big statements such as we are going to get the Malvinas back, then cries when we send the odd boat and future King down there to make sure she doesn’t, because we are in escalating things by defending ourselves…

I wonder if ‘itler sent a stern note to the UK stating that just because he had annexed a few Countries and was eying up the rest of Europe, that it was bad form for the UK to send the Expeditionary force over as that was not on, and not in his plan at all.

It’s rather like a small boy, who gets thoroughly smacked for misbehaving, so runs off, and, when he thinks he’s far enough away, turns round and sticks out his tongue.

This might account for more than we think !

“The Argentinians are basically Italians who speak Spanish and think that they are British” .

…by way of reply – Vulcan overflying the Olympics opening ceremony ?

And the bomb doors open to reveal the short, but sweet, message: “Falklands Forever, Malvinas Never”.

I read that using a memorial as a step up , didnt go down too well with war Vets in Argentina . They said their goverment should respect the dead of all wars & of both sides . This Argie woman boss should realise she isn’t Margaret Thatcher !!

Maybe the Spanish will lend us a couple of Harriers for a flypast, then again maybe not.
