TonyT. I as you may have seen on here some time ago, I went out on patrol in San Diego CHP. I noticed straight away, there were no heavy over weight ones there, I did comment on this whilst out with a Sgt, and he stated, they have to be VERY fit, and pass frequent medicals, drug tests, any time any place. They were then, under yearly contracts. Also the Mayor is the one who hires and fires the Police Chiefs, so everything is on a tight reign there, and I agree with it.
Put ALL the Police regardless of Rank, under contract.

I must admit having worked with the police when I was in the services and seeing the quality of a lot of them now, I think they are poor, that though is unfair to tar all with that brush, but the majority just seem to be bullies in uniform who simply abuse the trust put in them, they are after all supposed to be public servants, not masters… The undercover police fiasco against all the parties involved in green issues is another matter, these ARE legal entities, WTH are the police doing subversively entering and spying on legal parties, don’t get me wrong, I am not a green leftie or otherwise, but you do not see them infiltrating the Labour or Conservitive party’s..it smacks of Stasi and KGB tactics.

The job for life should go and they should have fixed terms of service and have to apply to extend service just like the services, it would start to weed out some of the dross… Also there seems to me more and more emphasis being placed on Specials to do the actual day to day community policing which should be redressed, nothing wrong with Specials, but the only way to get back some credibility is to interact more with the public..

Andy, still in Bed. 😮
Just got to accept Andy, they don’t make em like they used to.Trouble is, they are all young Coppers these days, (Or am I getting older) and they seem to go stricktly by the book.
I am sure those concerned will get a Commendation from their C.C. for daring to leave their nick in broad daylight, and without an A.K.47.
Well pleased I left, when we had respect from the public, and actualy went down the main street, (Honest, we realy did walk;) and spoke to the public, whereby I gained a lot of useful info regarding the local towrags, Yer canna get info, when your driving.
My advice to Coppers these dayswould be, get off your lazy ars*s, and meet the folk who pay your wages, I bet you would see crime drop a bit on your patch if you did.

lets be brutaly honnest if it was someone that was capable of giving a fair fight your average copper nowadays would cra* his pants and look for the big bumper book of health and safety excuses for inactivity !!

Yes I agree.
I have a mate who’s a retired copper in Luton.
Last year when the EDL were marching there (and panic had pretty much set in) he commented that he didn’t know what the fuss was about, back in the day when Luton Town FC were in the old first division they used to have a bundle once a fortnight.

I bet they wouldn’t have jumped on his bonnet if he’d had been a fellow ‘Cautious Man’.

Personally speaking, my confidence in the filf plummets daily. Today we have it in the news that a conference call involving a PCeU [Police Central e-crime Unit] representative and a memeber of the FBI was broadcast by hackers on the internet.
Now if I was plod, I’d be slightly concerned that the old security net was so moth eaten that a load of teenagers were listening in, but I’d be a bloody sight more worried that one of the unit’s finest thought The Bull Ring was in Sheffield..!

If it was Derbyshire all he needed to do was head for a hill, they used to have a Police car that could only get up one in reverse 😀

to be fair the locals also have six toes ( on each hand ) !!

Is it just me or is that pretty condescending in the most ageist of ways? Did you not do diversiy training?

If you look closely you’ll see, quite clearly, that the bloke’s a prick and deserves a good hiding. It’s a Range Rover, not a Hedgehog.

No It’s not at all condecending or ageist. I am 71 in a few months time, so, with 30 yrs of Police experience behind me, and an agile brain, I feel qualified to answer in the way I did, if you don’t agree tough titty.

He wasn’t attempting to escape, so a friendly greeting is appropriate. Taking a long time to stop does not justify violence or criminal damage.

I guess if you drive a car with illegally tinted windows, an illegal number plate, neglect to wear a seatbelt and then drive for seventeen miles oblivious of the police cars behind you with blues and twos on who are flashing you to pull over you might expect a little more than a friendly

“Good evening sir. Is this your car?”

Moggy

He wasn’t attempting to escape, so a friendly greeting is appropriate. Taking a long time to stop does not justify violence or criminal damage. Excessive actions like these do real damage to the police image.

If you look closely you’ll see, quite clearly, that the bloke’s a prick and deserves a good hiding. It’s a Range Rover, not a Hedgehog.

I didn’t realise the severity of the beatings issued was related to the size of the vehicle driven. Certainly not good news for a HGV driver without a seatbelt on is it? As for hedgehogs, they are carrying hundreds of offensive weapons.

but at the same time go overboard on easy targets

they fall over themselves to give a ticket to a pensioner for not wearing a seat belt !! what’s the worst that can happen ?? kill himself ?? big deal he probably only has ten years left anyway !!

yet they weren’t over keen on interveening to stop rioting

I do hope you’ve seen the latest episode of “Motorway Cops”! Skip to the end and you’ll see a summary of what happened, lots of prosecutions for traffic offences, oh and…

“the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against the men who were caught with a car boot containing 10kg of class A drugs”

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01bqpjd/Motorway_Cops_Hide_and_Seek/

@Bob
The ASP is for hitting people. Fitting a window breaker end cap could encourage officers to use the end cap as a weapon. The ACPO have obviously decided that this would be a bad idea.

@Lincoln 7
Unbelievable! Seeing a video like that would not encourage me to sign up as a police officer, quite the opposite.

The Police did not settle this matter with their money. This cash was paid by you and me and everyone on this forum. The Police do not have any of their own money. The money they apparently ‘have’ comes from us the taxpayer and that is why the Police are very often ‘free and easy’ with ‘their’ cash.

The more often this canard is repeated the more often it is believed by the majority. The Police have no money, any more than the Govt. has. It is ours and comes from our pocket – please, everyone remember that.

Lincoln 7

I entirely agree with your thoughts and comments. The behaviour of a substantial section of the Police force is a disgrace, they seem to have no sense of proportionate response particularly so when deploying their armed cowboys into situations that could be, by using some degree of imagination, controlled by other means.
