Hi all,
My girlfriend & I were having a clear out in our attic the other day, and we came across a collection of LP’s/Vinyl, with artists such as Status Quo, Iron Maiden and Whitesnake, which used to belong to an uncle that now lives in the USA.
Seeing as both of us are still in our 20’s, we are more use to CDs/MP3, and have no need for them, but rather than just take them down to the local charity shop, we thought we might try to sell them (don’t panic, we have the uncle’s permission to do so!) as some maybe worth quite a bit as collectors items.
I know that eBay is more than likely the best way to go, but again because we don’t know exactly how much each is worth, we don’t simply want to just upload them for 99p and then let them go for the cheapest possible price, so I just thought I would ask on here for some general advice first to see if anyone is able to help us?

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks Merlin Madness…I’ll PM you over a list of what we have in the next few days, and perhaps you will be in a better position to advise us as to what to do with them.;)

I`m a Vinyl nut lets get that out the way first. I have 1000`s of mint heavy/rock lp`s.
To answer the question it all depends on what you have. A copy of number of the beast say, heavyly played at the time with normal stylus on a “music centre”, cover worn will not be worth anything to a vinylphille.
However a mint Uriah Heep Very evy 1st pressing on vertigo is worth a bit. Also take Zep. Early mint Plum label is what you want, later reissue played a bit not worth much. Also Quo, take dog of two heads mint on vertigo gatefold nice condition if a collectable. The Quo metal tin “from the makers of” worth nowt.
I buy collections and out of 50 lps might only keep 2 or 3,And i have a £500 record cleaning machine.
Most lp`s will be worth 99p going a bit higher.
If you want advice on single lps ill gladly help out.

We have a fairly large vinyl collection that we have no intention of getting rid of but what we did find was that the LPs need to be in pretty much mint condition to be of any value, especially fairly common titles. It might be worth having a look at GEMM or Vinyl Tap to see what sort of prices dealers are selling them for.

Hi Cloud 9. Were I you, I would Google words like vinyl/L.Ps and the word dealers.
You may be lucky enough to find a dealer who could advise or even buy what you have.
I would certainly research what I had though before getting rid.
