After a toasting at Frankfurt i made my way to Dresden with Aero engine parts. After which i spent a few hours at the airport in again searing heat.. Dresden is a fairly large single runway airport with a very modern terminal which has a viewing area (behind glass) on the top floor, not overrun with traffic, there are also lots of large hangars alongside the runway.. the last of which housed an Emirates A380, next to which you can park up and shoot landers and taxiing aircraft (although a little bit low, you lose sight of the belly of aircraft when directly in front of you) i then went a wandering and found a little country lane that leads right up to the fence where there is even a nice bench to sit on, this spot overlooks the entire airfield.
Never shot much here in my few hours here but anyways………….

Nice photos, I like the first shot best, even though I prefer their old livery. 😀 Germanwings were quick to repaint their fleet. I’ve heard none of the old livery are left.
widmeister, why was they so hot on stopping people taking pics of the LSK AN26’s? I confess I know nothing about them, hence my interest 🙂
LSK (Luftstreitkräfte) is the air force. As with all warsaw-pact countries at the time they were paranoid for western spies. So anyone with a camera caught at or near a military field was detained. Regardless if there where state of the art fighters or basic transports.
Lovely set of shots. Which company operates that BAe 146?
It’s WDL aviation. They are a ACMI charter, similar to Titan Airways.

A wee change. In the old days of the DDR you would have been hung drawn and quartered for taking shots at Dresden as it was the base of the LSK AN26s . They subsequently went to the normal German AF when the dyke was ditched and things became happier.
