There is a lot of decent music around that doesn’t involve anything like the X-factor (or Meatloaf or Dire Straits for that matter ) :p

A matter of opinion really, personally I cant stand the mans music, I find it too theatrical, but whatever floats ya boat.
But one has to appreciate the skills, in all sorts of Music. And he had singing skills which were quite amazing.
I’ve just spent several minutes admiring the skills of Phil Kelsall.
