Hang-fires are generally an issue with the primer, (The little percussion cap that sits in the base of the shotshell and is struck by the firing pin)

The normal rule is to wait 30 seconds with the barrel pointed downrange, then eject it quickly and away from you. Don’t pick it up for at least five minutes if practical.

But that did take a long time, so I wouldn’t rule out some kind of fault in the action of that pump.

Might have been using his own reloads & effed one up. I had some Pakistani surplus .303 Enfield stuff that is notorious for that trick tho. I think the record was a little over 15 seconds between the *click* & the *bang*.
In the video you hear the click, then he cycles the action again…. then another click..& then he decides to look in the hole… With the video running it wouldn’t have been much of a problem for the coroner to sort out if he’d been leaning just a bit further forward..

The stupidest, and luckiest, person alive! 😮

My first thought was that it was a set up but then it looks pretty genuine to me. What would cause the cartridge to delay-fire like that I wonder? Or was it a fault with the weapon; could the firing-pin stick and then release?
