Better not name her here, but there’s a certain woman on Ebay UK continually ripping people off by making false Item Not Received claims and then forcing a refund. Posting this here because her main interests seem to be leather flying jackets, model aircraft kits and aviation books. Ebay have been told about her over and over again, but do absolutely nothing, so if you are selling any of these items please be careful. PM me if you want the buyer’s username.

Add her to your “Blocked Buyer List” and you should be OK.

Thank you for the PM. I have checked my sales records and I have not been `done` by this particular buyer (yet).

I had someone buy an old radio from me then send me a picture of it smashed in its (completly over the top strong) packing case asking for a refund.I said I would refund in full ,including the price of posting the rare valves inside back to me…never heard from them again.

A mate of mine used to always get proof of posting, then someone claimed they didn’t receive, it didn’t make any difference to the outcome.
Very true, paypal ALWAYS finds in favour of the buyer. No matter what evidence you have as a seller.

Fantastic to think of bringing this to forum members for their protection.

Sellers have something to lose, buyers do not,
Buyers can get stung too. I gave up using Ebay after losing money to a swindler in Germany. Money was sent registered mail, never received said they seller… post office took two months to find out if it was delivered or not. It was. As this scum had signed off Ebay the day after the auction ended Ebay was not interested either. A few weeks later I saw a report on RTL-Germany how crooks use Ebay. They make many ghost sales to other scammers or have several aliases. Feedback is then given to each other as +++++. I gave up using this service after this. Caviat emptor is all I can add.

I had this problem a few years back with photographs I was selling In the end I used recorded delivery and charged the extra on the P and P. recorded provided a signature which no one could argue with. It may not have covered the value if it went missing but you did have proof of delivery. Im sure there is some form of recoding delivery for all items posted ni the UK

The card companies will do a chargeback on paypal if the item is claimed as not received. Anyone can make such a claim. Ebay do nothing to the buyers because is little they can do. Sellers have something to lose, buyers do not, they can simply register again if they are banned. Essentially, if you deal on ebay, your best best for anything of real value is to say cash via recorded delivery or postal orders only, which cuts the banks and paypal out of the equation, and makes the scam much harder.
