Am I the only person who grew up in Hayes, Middlesex that learnt to fly?

Oh I see. Thats very interesting! Just out of interest, what did your dad do at Fairey aviation? My grandads brother, Tom, worked at Fairey aviation from a young age.
Oh its ashame you havent done much flying since 1995. I havent got much in myself lately as im unemployed at the moment.
How was the C177 flight? I havent been in one of them before.

When I was there, it was a former childrens’ home, that had been taken over as TS Broke and used by the local Sea Cadets, of which my father was an RNVR officer, as well as working at Faireys. He also acted as caretaker and in return, we had an appartment in the building. After his death in 1951, we moved to Hayes.
I learnt to fly at Cranfield, but haven’t flown since 1995, unless you count a trial lesson I had last week from Henlow in a C.177, taking a grandchild along for the experience. To be honest, I prefer older and should I say, simpler aircraft.

Well done that man! As a matter of interest, I spent my 1st 5 years, technically in Southall, where the Aeradio building is now, by the canal!

Well I grew up in Southall, next to Hayes, and learnt to fly. Although now I live in Milton Keynes 🙂
