I see that Hull, is providing a “Stepping stone” for perhaps the manufacture, and delivery of Wind Turbines. Living very close to the Wash, the Farms seem to be everywhere.I look, from Skeg, all the way round to Cromer.
Any member know how many Turbines we would need around our Coastline to be completely independant of any other form of electricity provider, ie, Power Statios?.etc.

I most certainly have a vested interest in Gas and Electricity. I have to pay their extortionate bills:(

Precisely, GA. Don’t bother to read anything written by vested interests – it will serve little purpose and hardly further the argument.

Here’s and ex-hippie who says to the contrary …
A bit of googleing will find you everything you need – several times over….;) And whichever way you look at it you will find no case for them – other than from all the vested interests, of course.

He claims an electric car and motorbike in development – 2 hour battery of course charged from what you may ask – the national grid 😀

Whereas, of course, there are no vested interests at all promoting nuclear power, coal, gas, etc.
Oh dearie me, no. 😎

Is anybody able to get accurate figures for output from already deployed wind farms?
Is anybody able to get accurate figures for output from already deployed wind farms?
UK will be adequate as that is what we should be considering.
Useful data could be –
Location,
Number of turbines
Period in full operation
Mean time before failures
Output for entire period, as well as more granular, ie monthly
Weather patterns in location e.g. average wind velocity for same periods

If you had millions of tons of coal under your country why wouldnt you use it ?? Britain once did exactly the same .The Chinese arn’t stupid & only pay lip service to the worlds Carbon emmission targets .( so do the Americans for that matter)
By: Lincoln 7 - 23rd July 2011 at 22:10
Ray.The last time I did a head count of the Chinese, it was about 1.3 Billion, so you may well be right.

China to build two new super sized coal power stations
As the title says China having built its quota of windmill power producers will build something it knows will produce power constantly. The worlds overpopulation will finish us off before climate change anyway.Ray:D

Jim I asked GA a question and the strange J-20 Hotdog got in between and messed it up
Some of it’s fascinating and do-able but it remains a case of trying to convince the powers to be in business and politics that the key word is sustainability not “grab money now quick from either joe public or the EU” and in 4-5 years they simply become eyesores and scientific relics.

I have withdrawn with the parting opinion – Nuke power in safe British hands is the solution with supplementary smaller scale alternative cost effective schemes for areas such as outlying islands, those with ideal South facing walls, etc

I have acknowledged that all of us will be looking in the dark for St Peter as not just the moon but a lot else catastrophic will have happened then and as the song goes “Knock Knock Knocking on heaven’s door”:D
You have missed the point completely.

Linc – “we could make better use of than we do.” The Scots and Welsh have made very good use of their water. Dinorwig in Wales is a massive 1.7GW station and the there are 6 or 7 100+MW stations in Scotland.
I rest my case, young Pete.;) But as my old teacher Insisted writing on all my school reports, “Could do better”:D
