Largest yacht for rent.

Who can say no at £1.25M per week? Did the lottery winners see this?

Is Abramovich bored with new yacht already? £300m vessel for rent after six months

With two swimming pools, two helipads, a gym, hair salon, dancefloor and submarine, there is plenty to occupy even the most discerning visitor.

But it seems Roman Abramovich has already tired of life on board the world’s largest private yacht.

Just six months after taking delivery of the £300million vessel, the Russian billionaire is renting it out – for £1.25million a week.

The Chelsea football club owner is rumoured to have spent only a few hours on board the Eclipse, which comes equipped with 70 staff, a missile defence system, armour plating and bulletproof windows.

Even if the military-grade security is breached, the occupants are safe in the knowledge that they can make a James Bond-style escape in a submarine that can dive to a depth of 150ft.

And there’s plenty of room to entertain friends, with 15 double bedroom cabins all equipped with their own luxury bathrooms and 6ft wide television screens. Parties on the 533ft yacht are guaranteed to stay private, as it’s fitted with an ‘anti-paparazzi shield’ that fires a laser beam of light at cameras to ruin photographs.

The 20,000 sq ft interior also houses a sauna, steam bath and whirlpool to help guests wind down.

But despite everything Eclipse has to offer, Abramovich, 44, is already letting it out through SuperYachtsMonaco.

Potential customers will need deep pockets, however, as it’s priced at a staggering £175,000 a day – and filling the fuel tank will cost a further £400,000.

Abramovich, who owns three other superyachts, ordered the Eclipse in 2006. It first set sail from Hamburg’s Blohm + Voss shipyard in June 2009.

The boat maker carried out further testing and refinement before Abramovich took delivery of his flagship yacht in late December last year.
But he was criticised last month when the enormous vessel moored unannounced in Venice.

Locals and tourists complained that the yacht was ruining the city’s scenic views.

To keep the boat running, Abramovich employs 70 staff, with annual costs estimated to be around £50million.

The Eclipse is around 11ft longer than the Dubai, previously the world’s largest private yacht, owned by Sheikh Mohammed and named after the emirate he rules.

Comments (10) More money than sense, the whole idea of building the yacht was a big ego trip anyway, he wanted the biggest private yacht afloat (which is already being out sized by two new yachts about to be launched), it cost him half a billion with multiple delays and now 50million a year to maintain, he’s trying to recoup a little of his waisted cash from this white elephant. One word to describe him….. idiot.

So to ‘pay’ for its self he needs to clear a million each and every week.

Look with his money he could clear the world debt. But these people don’t think about things like that.

Abramovich’s latest is huge but IMO nothing can beat Dennis Washington’s beautiful Attessa 3.

why on earth would you gold plate a freaking boat? 😎

As it turned out to be a lie (Why say hoax!) but anyway, the term “Copper bottomed” was a term used to describe somebody rich. Because hulls were copper bottomed to keep the animal life off it, and in it. It was very expensive, thus had to be rich.
So, if you were very rich, it could be possible to plate it with Gold instead.

As for selling it to our Navy, I’m afraid it’s far too modern.

ZRX61 was right!

World’s most expensive yacht a hoax

A luxury yacht manufacturer said newspaper reports that it had built a 3 billion British pound (US$4.8 billion) gold-plated superboat for a Malaysian businessman are fake. Mr Mario Borselli, the sales manager of Italian yacht builder Baia, said the photos which appeared in The Sun and other British newspapers last week were indeed those of his company’s model — the Baia 100, but digitally altered with photo software. The British newspaper reports had created a stir in Malaysia after they were posted on the Internet, fuelling intense speculation about the identity of the Malaysian businessman who had supposedly commissioned it. The vessel was reported in The Sun as being adorned with 100 tonnes of gold, with sleeping quarters covered in platinum and a statue made from the bone of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. 😮

If, and I say IF the hull has been gold plated, then thats because gold cannot corrode in salt water, and barnacles do not adhere to gold.

I would have thought it would have had the sacraficial Zinc plates fitted, but if your that stupid with money, I wouldnt be surprised.
Great shame they cant spend it on better things like donating a wedge of notes to Medicine research etc.

Perhaps the forum could club together and use it for a aerojumble or something?

Bargain, it works out at £121.53 a minute.;)
