Care of Passports…

Having just come across a time expired Passport of mine, I thought it would illustrate how not to dry a damp Passport…
In 1991 I was holidaying on the Florida Keys and decided to partake of a spot of boating. A nice little boaty thing was duly rented and away one, and one’s family went. During said voyage, a certain amount of water managed to gain access to the craft. On disembarking, one noticed one’s camera/valuables bag was somewhat waterlogged. Upon opening said bag, I became aware that the camera was above the waterline, but alas my passport, in the bottom of the bag, had suffered from the mild dunking. It became apparent that the watermarks and writing were rapidly becoming unclear. What to do? Wel,l on our return to our accommodation, the only means of quick drying seemed to be the microwave oven… The Passport was popped in and given 850 watts for 30 seconds. It was now warm but not hot, so another minute resulted in a light steam emitting from the oven and a nice smell of cooked cardboard. Once cooled, I checked the running of inks had been arrested. All was well…until I looked at the photos… The original one of a clean shaven me was fine, but the later one featuring me with a beard had succumbed to microwave disfiguration! (See photo). I was terrified that, (1) US Immigration wouldn’t let me board a plane home:eek: and (2) UK Immigration wouldn’t let me back into the UK. As it happened, both authorities were happy with the unshaven me pic, even if I had a beard. Phew!

Enjoy it whilst you can, time flies by, and goes seemingly twice as fast when one retires.

Whilst all that may well make you look younger, your insides are unable to be enhanced to make you look or live longer.;)

Ahhh That may well be, but at least I never needed lotions and potions, whats wrong with growing older naturaly?.We all have to go sometime, and all the lotions, potions and plastic surgery will not delay the inevitable. Whilst all that may well make you look younger, your insides are unable to be enhanced to make you look or live longer.;)
