Something to look at

Thought some of you might like some pictures 😀 Obviously they are not the top of the line works of art like some of the photos posted!

They were taken the first weekend in july, at a fly-in hosted by the biggest clubs in Iceland on a small country side grassfield.

1. One to please Moggy 😀 A Tri Pacer TF-BOR. Very nice example of one of Mr. Piper’s finest. This one has drooped wingtips, supposedly for better slow speed handling/performance. Having flown this one and other Tri-Pacers with out the wingtips, I can not notice any difference.

2. A Smart looking Cessna C-150. This one is used for flight instruction by the flying club hosting the fly-in.

3. The good old Cub! Ahh….. Happy memories. I used to have a share in one just like that one.

4. A 1941 Ercoupe. Completly original, without any mods, NO rudder pedals. It was just out of a repaint at the time. My personal opinion is that they could have chosen a better scheme for it.

5. The Ercoupe again

6. TF-FUN, a Citabria own by the flying club

7. Aeronca 11AC Chief. A very nice little aircraft. Has the same 65 horse engine as the Cub but flys a little faster, but has worse adverse yaw. When turning you need to lead with a boot full of rudder to get it around.

8. The Chief again.

9. My ride on over the weekend.

10. No Fly-In is complete with out the party around the bone fire 😀

Hmmm.

The Colt’s low speed handling is pretty much the same as its high-speed handling on account of the fact it’s flat out at 80 knts and falls out of the sky much less than 60. Energy management isn’t too much of an issue.

Very smart looking Tripe, but it has to be said that the mounting of the rotating beacon on the tail is not something I’d rush to follow.

I think your step-daughter did very well to fly the CAP10 so accurately, well done her 😉

As an ignoramus, I had not realised there were so many interesting vintage aeroplanes in Iceland. AND you play guitars too.

How much do houses cost?

The last one for now, is a picture of my step daughter holding the prize for the spotlanding contest SHE won! 😀 Well that is at least what she was telling everybody that wanted to hear it, and no doubt someone that didn’t want to hear it 😀 She was my co-pilot or should I say, I was HER co-pilot for the contest.
