I have just watched the 18.00. hrs News on T.V. a load of it was rubbish, well T.B.H. the disposal of same. Folks want their rubbish collecting weekly, instead of every two weeks.
It was quite CLEARLY stated, (even with both hearing aids removed), that there are, 20, yes 20 people in Westminister trying to find a way into bringing it back into force. And they are costing a MINT!
“Hey, Mate, we are doing the rounds EVERY week instead of fortnightly”.;)
Its as easy as that Mr Cameron, and on an even brighter side you can now save money by getting rid of 20 Bl***Y useless party members,
Now, whats next on the agenda?. Ah yes, Quangoes, and the getting rid thereof.Oh and don’t forget to bring along Victor.

You Grumpy old git, I remember after the war, we were so poor, the Church mouse shared his food with US.:p
Seriously,( and lets face it, we do now, no more laughs and fooling around,)when dinner was served, didn’t matter whether we liked it or not, we had to eat it, if we didn’t, it was there the next meal, nowt went to waste, Now one of my daughters, cooks a meal for herself, a different one for her husband, and a different one for her son, Oh how times change.

… when you’ve got surplus food to throw out…
Us what went through the war (especially us kids) was tawt to eat everyfing that was put on our plate – not that there was much in the first place. Surely people could learn to only prepare as much food as they KNOW will get eaten?
If that isn’t enuff – give ’em a slice of bread (stale, dry, cut from a proper loaf) 😀

We also have weekly collections, but alternating between recyclable and general refuse. On the whole our household’s recycling bin ends up fuller than the general one.
The arrangement works well for us, but where it all really falls down is when you’ve got surplus food to throw out just after the general waste has been collected – it’s going to be sitting rotting in your bin for two weeks before it gets taken away. I know some councils have weekly collections for food waste, but most don’t.

The recycled card, paper, plastic, metal etc. is going to a brand new recycle centre at Shotton in North Wales – it isn’t going for landfill.
By: Lincoln 7 - 14th June 2011 at 20:45
? We’re having another recycle bin added so there will be even less land-fill type rubbish to throw out. We try and recycle as much as possible.
Still it’s a very unusual move for the government to make a policy u-turn isn’t it?
Arthur. They took a film crew, and visited a recycling centre. The boss there stated there was not as much rubbish to be recycled as much as had to be put into landfill sites at £58.00. per Ton. So, it seems to me to be rather stupid to add another bin to your round, which may just end up in a landfill site. Have any of them any ideas as to what they are doing?.:(

Probably by getting rid of a few Council supremos.

If only. One of the council members from MK was on the news a few months ago, when asked if he thought he was worth his very high wage, he replied with a ‘yes’ There was many letters of complaint about that in our local newspaper shortly after!

Typical Daily Mail inspired policy making. Our bins are emptied two-weekly with recycled stuff two weekly on the alternate weeks. It works well and is cost effective. If our bin was emptied every week it would only be half full so where would the sense be in that? We’re having another recycle bin added so there will be even less land-fill type rubbish to throw out. We try and recycle as much as possible.

Here in Milton Keynes we get our rubbish collected weekly.
I never understood why they changed some areasended up with a fortnightly collection. I recall hearing when it came in that the councils said it would reduce rubbish – haha not sure how!!!

Just to clarify – household waste is collected every two weeks and recycled waste every two weeks, alternately, so there is a collection weekly but not of all the waste. That’s what all the fuss has been about and so far as I was aware it affects a number of councils in Wales as well, but correct me if I am wrong.

in Wythenshawe , Manchester ,they are emptied every week.
