What an absolute shame, a really informative Historian who could take you on a walk through these old battlefields, albeit in a television program, and make you feel as if for the first time you really understood what happened.
I for one shall miss his expertise.

I was lucky enough to attend a lecture he gave once, publicising his book ‘Tommy’, and I would always watch the documentaries he made when they were on. He will be missed.

I second that, I learned so much from his detailed knowledge and quiet understated enthusiasm.
