I think pagen01 has made an eminently sensible suggestion.

We seem to be done here, gentlemen.

I did recommend at post #24 that this discussion should be carried on in the same titled thread in Historic forums – far more relevant and sensible!

G.A
If anything we were discussing a North/South matter rather than aviation per se– the whole thread has had an aviation ‘tinge’ – it is about an airfield after all…

anyway I shall keep out of it – I have been through redundancy programs and know what it all feels like…:(

Gentlemen,

This is the place for discussion of non-aviation matters.

If you want a debate about the Nimrod 4, take it to the Modern Military Aviation forum.

Thanks

Yes the Nimrod 4 programme went SOOOOO much better after it moved north 😀
Obviously FRA caused ALL the problems that subsequently hit the Nimrod 4 project

It was a pig-in-a-poke from day 1, but Flight Refueling didn’t help matters. They should never have been allowed to be in the “Finals” of the bidding process, let alone win it.

Not sure how far out your ‘London’ sites go but at Dunsfold we were most definitely paid less than those at Warton.
Incidentally the Dunsfold closure was premature and political, there was no shortage of Harrier work at that time and of course our beloved Hawk had already been ‘stolen’ from us.

Really? What level of job?
The people I worked with; Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Business Team etc. were on more.

Nimrod 4 was only a rescue package after they pulled it our of the cowboys on the South Coast.

The “London” sites were always earmarked for early closing, not least the fact that the wages wre more than the “Cheap Northerners”.

Ok then smart-alec, my job is safe for the forseeable future – is that better for you. Wouldn’t want to be too optimistic now would I?

Sheesh. What a misery.

Interesting that your crystal ball gives you an assurance that the rest of this country’s working population don’t share Arthur.

[QUOTE=Arthur Pewtey;1725462]For your information, I’m not suffering. My job is safe. I’m just not keen on “humour” from other’s misfortune. Even sarcasm is not funny in these situations.

Give them a break, cutbacks mean that KP can only afford one book covering the subject of wit and sarcasm for the Mods reference library…

Was it on loan to someone else yesterday? 😀

Hmmm.

A classic diversionary tactic, if you ask me.

Huh?.

You don’t know whose back yard it might be in though, do you?

I wonder what this actually means then if you decline to comment? There only a handful of houses that actually back on to the site. Is one of them yours?

Go on then enlighten me. You may want to add some gritty northern humour as well. I hope my sides don’t split though.

I’ll decline your kind invitation.

Reading the above, you seem to suffering quite enough as it is.

Your auction link hasn’t been moddedid.

Is it cos I is Black?

I know what you’re saying but it is still very sad driving in every day past an ever dwindling car park, knowing that in a few weeks it will be closed completely

Arthur, there is a more, erm, sensible thread on the same subject in Historic at the moment, be good to hear some of your knowledge and experiences on it.

Hatfield.
It was next to (Planned) M25, a new shopping centre was planned also.
The only aeroplane was the 146, planned to move to Woodford.
The design team on early Airbus work had lost out to the Filton lot.

Didn’t they close Hatfield as it was deemed the gravel under the runway was worth a fortune to fall foul of a covenant saying it had to be returned to greenfields if the airport went, think it was overturned but the fortune was severely depleted doing it,

Think runways will be brown to thanks to that slimeball prescott.

Someone suggested it would make a good exec aircraft airport for Manchester and would at least keep it in use……… can you not get the place listed?? Heart goes out to you ARTHUR 🙁
