Hello all,
I’m writing from a very destroyed Christchurch City in New Zealand.
I’ve done a page on my aviation website showing some of the
damage to my immediate neighbourhood and for us aviation fans,
some of the influx of military support aircraft into our airport.
Link: http://www.uswarplanes.net/specialfeature.html
I was inside my TV station in the city at the moment the quake struck
and count myself and my workmates as being very lucky to have
survived when so many didn’t. Our building is now in a state of collapse.
The inside is extremely unstable with lunches, coffee cups and belongings
just dropped in the panic to get out.
Thank you.

Thanks for posting the pictures Simon. They put the damage in real perspective. The media pictures have given some idea but pictures that put a personal slant on the even are much more meaningful. You good people have my synpathy. An event on this scale must be doubly devastating to a country with such a small population.

Thanks for posting those pictures Simon. It must be difficult for everyone living under those conditions, thank goodmess you and your family were unhurt.
Re the aircraft shots,I well remember being in New Zealand in 2001 somewhere near the Coromandel when an RNZAF Hercules suddenly appeared out of low cloud. If I remember rightly it was painted in camouflage,a most impressive sight.
All the best to you,and to everyone affected by the earthquake.
Great surname, btw. My Mum was a Beck.
