I left my home in Bournemouth at left at around 11.30 to Heathrow.
Arriving at T4, i am pleased to find an empty KLM Check-in desks and check in to flight 1018 to Amsterdam and flight 1707 to Madrid. Since this is a connecting flight, i get both boarding cards at Heathrow.
Going through passport control, i relax by Costa Coffee’s view of the airport, wathcing a B747-400 of BA departing to Mexico City. Not long later, i see in the distance my B737-400 arriving from Ams to take me on my first leg of the trip.
After long waiting, i board the flight at 14.10 and get my window seat on the B737-400. After taxiing behind a B777 of BA, we depart on time at 14.50 and shortly turn towards Holland. During the short flight, i am served a cheese sandwich and an orange juice, and before i know it, the coast of Holland is in sight.
35 minutes after take-off, we land at Schiphol’s Polderbaan runway, and taxi behind a F100 of KLM at the dull wheathered Amsterdam. Finnally, we arrive at gate D53.
I love Schiphol, i could spend hours there. But, my flight to Madrid leaves 1 hour after i arrive, so i rush to the passport control, which is bombarded by passengers off a flight from Beijing, and i pass through to the amazing Schegen departure lounge (lounge 1).
I was amazed by the great Schegen lounge and sit, recovering from my flight, watching the British low cost airlines at their gates (BMI BABY, easyJet, BMI ect ). But, i am short for time and begin the 15 minute treck to gate D??-I forgot- Sorry!!
As we begin boarding KL1707, B737-800 the Dutch sun begins to set. As we wait for push back, i watch Transavia B737-700 taxi out to the runway. Eventually, after a 30 minute delay, we push back, and make a straight-out departure to Madrid.
As we reach our cruising altitude, i am thrilled to see Paris City, and airport CDG right under us, and i see the densly packed CDG airport. By the time i am served my cheese and ham sandwich with coca cola, it is dark and i gently fall asleep…
Soon later, i am told we are to begin our descent and land on runway 18R at 22.20, quite late on arrival. We taxi past T1+2, seeing the many Iberia A320/B757 and Spanair MD87. We park at the gate, next to an Air France A320 just in from Paris. I finnally leave and arrive at the great city of Madrid after a long long day.
