Perfect Morning at Southend!

Here’s a few shots from a fantastic morning at Southend.

First was this very nice BBJ N92SR departing to Stansted after maintenance. This one has evaded me a couple of times, so I was glad to get it, especially in such excellent light. IT performed a very impressive full power takeoff, having used around half of Southend’s 6,000 feet of runway

Next came a Cityjet RJ85 departing after having been a very unusual maintenance visitor with Inflite.

And a relatively sedate takeoff compared to the BBJ on departure to Dublin.

And then I had some luck, N92SR turned up again on approach after not being able to make it into Stansted owing to fog. Iy got very bad, very quickly with 500m visibility.

Reverse thrust in action on arrival to Runway 24:

And after just over an hour, the BBJ departed to Stansted again, before heading off to the States:

As always, I hope these are of interest.

Thanks Bristol-Rob, if only the light was always so good. Even rarer is when the light is good and unusual things actual move at Southend!

Thanks ~Alan~, FLY.BUY, EGTC and Matt-100 for your comments, glad these were of interest.

~Alan~ – Yes N92SR was on Stand 2 at the end of the new terminal stands for the past week, along with a Rossiya A319. The ex. Queen’s flight 146 is as far as I know long gone.

Matt-100 – Sunny Southend-on-Sea has certainly been living up to its reputation over a few weekends, but its not always sunny unfortunately. Do tend to miss out on the worst of the weather thanks to the position in the South-East.

FLY.BUY – I would estimate that there are at least 10 146s, 2 ATPs and also a couple of 748s remaining at Southend. They are parked in various places scattered around the airfield, and none are generally in a decent place to photograph. The number of 146s has reduced by a few this year with at least 5 which were previously in storage departing (including a couple of ex. Flightline examples) and a couple others being scrapped. If any are in a decent position, i will endeavor to photograph the,m!

Certainly an up and coming airport, are there many HS748’s or Avro 146’s still at the far end of the airfield? Would love to see some photo’s of these.

Nice pictures as always. Were there two of those 737s parked by the old terminal this week ?
